Kaia Kanepi beats Schnyder

The unseeded Kaia Kanepi of Estonia, ranked 61 in the world and playing with Luxilon ALu Power 125, upset the 11th seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland in the 3rd round in a very one-sided match which saw Kaia excel in every feature of the game to win by an embarrassing (for Patty) 6-0 6-1.
This was only Kaia’s third defeat of a top-20 player in her career and, by a strange co-incidence, the last time she did so, it was against Patty Schnyder, who was also seeded 11 and in was also at the Sony Ericsson Open just one year ago. Patty will be hoping to avoid a third meeting…!
