Kristian is one of the few players from Denmark. He had a promising junior career, beating Mikhail Youzhny in 1999 to win the Austrlian Open Junior title and appeared in the final of the Wimbledon event before finishing the year as the top ranked junior in the world. After just 3 succesful years on the pro circuit, reaching a rank of 65, he suffered a serious choulder injury that required multiple surgeries and a year away from tennis. His ranking fell to below 800 as a result.
He has worked hard to climb back up the ranking chart and in January 2007 beat world number 8 David Nalbandian.
