The Yves Allegro interview

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

Swiss player Yves Allegro was subjected to the dreaded Luxilon interview by Biggi Ziener:

allegro.jpg

Why do you play with Luxilon strings: I did not like full gut nor full polyester strings, so one day I decided to try half and half and it worked out really good.

Why did you choose Alu Power Rough: I play with a rough string, because I am a rough guy!!! No, I once ordered the normal Alu Power, but the warehouse shipped the rough version by accident. I tried it and really liked it. That is why I stayed with the rough. [Editor's note: Yves' old doubles player - Roger Federer - uses the same hybrid of gut and Alu Power Rough.]

String tension used: 22 - 21 kg.

How do you determine the string tension that you use: on the weather conditions, speed of the court and speed of the balls.

How long have you played with that combination: Since 2003.

What are your feelings about Wimbledon: It is the biggest and most important tournament of the year for me.

Do you like having to wear white?: Yes. It’s nice, classy, traditional.

How do you like grass: I love it – I can smoke it!

Where do you stay? My address is…… Ooops, nearly told you! I rented a house with another player from Switzerland, who also uses Luxilon strings, but plays with a Head racket. Who is that?

What do you do offsite: I try to find a girl, I love British girls.

How do you like British food: no comment…

Strawberries: Why not?

Massi tells all…

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

Massimo Calvelli - European Tour Manager - shared his likes and dislikes with our persistent reporter - Biggi Ziener:

biggimassimo2213.jpg

Best part of my life: my 2 boys, Christian and Riccardo.
Worst part of my life: I unfortunately used to be a tennis player… what a shame!
Best about Luxilon strings: Players get addicted right away.
Worst about Luxilon strings: Phone never stops ringing.
Best about the Team I work with: they’re all great people, big fun to work with.
Worst about the Team I work with: they’re all too good for me… I cannot keep up with them.
I enjoy the most at the Tournaments: playing “hotel tennis” paired up with Michael at 6.30 in the morning.
I hate the most at the Tournaments: Biggi doesn’t cook for me at the Wilson house in Wimbledon.

Juan Pablo is in love…

But Juan Pablo did share some of his emotional thoughts with us.

“The first time in my life, I think I am in love - and it is with LUXILON!”

Luxilon tour managers find soul at Wimbledon

The Luxilon effect is even having an impression on the staff.

From Adam Schaechterle:

The secret is not an ingredient
Or how the fibers are stretched and bent,
It’s not a chemical that seperates
Our string from every attempt to imitate.
The difference is a single obsession
Of a company run by father and son:
That when a Lux player wins Wimbledon,
The strings and the player are one.

And from Adrian Coles:

Rough or smooth, a term of old
Now though to help control
The Luxilon range catering for all
For unequalled power and the control you need
Or extreme resilience to reach your goal
The Queen of Luxilon, her expertise and grace
To help you in the Championship Race

See what the Luxilon effect can do for your game - and your soul…!

Olga from the Volga

Olga Poutchkova originally from Moscow, Russia, but now living in the United States came to see us with her father and coach Aleksey Poutchkov.

 Poutchkova

Massimo Calvelli - European Tour Manager is on the right.

Olga plays with Alu Power and is quite a hitter. But when not pounding balls on the WTA Tour, she shows more of her feminine side as a model with the Elite Model Agency.

Father Christmas

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

Here is Robin Soderling of Tibro, Sweden either playing Father Christmas…

Soderling

… or making sure that he doesn’t run out of Alu Power any time soon!

Robin gave Nadal a scare in the 3rd round, taking him to a fifth set and narrowly losing 7-5.
