Luxilon players dominate the 2006 NASDAQ-100 Open
Monday, April 3rd, 2006Luxilon-sponsored Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia won the women’s championship beating Maria Sharapova of Russia 6-4 6-3. Svetlana uses Luxilon Supersense as the main string (57 lb) and Luxilon Alu Power (55 lb) in the cross strings. “I just love Luxilon,” she said enthusiastically as she visited the stringing room after her win. “I wish I could win enough prize money to buy the company then I would make strings just for me and win everything!”

In the men’s final, world #1 Roger Federer - who plays with a combination of Luxiilon Alu Power Rough and Wilson Natural Gut won the men’s championship. He defeated Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia in three tight sets 7-6(5) 7-6(4) 7-6(6).

Luxilon was also the official stringing company of the event and its team of world-class stringers from 5 different coutries successfully completed the stringing of over 1,600 racquets at this prestigious event which featured most of the World’s top players and attendance of over 250,000 fans. This is the third year in which Luxilon has managed player racquet services for the event.

The Luxilon Cup again provided some exciting junior tennis during the 2006 NASDAQ-100 Open event in Key Biscayne, Florida. Luxilon has supported junior tennis for a number of years and looks forward to this opportunity to further the careers of some talented young players.
Sanja Ancic of Croatia (sister of ATP pro Mario Ancic) won the girls’ championship beating a disappointed Lauren Albanese of the USA in a tough three set match 7-5 4-6 6-3.
